Who Should Take This Training Program?
If you work for a company that excavates, owns or operates underground infrastructure, or provides locates, this training program is for you.
How Long Does The Training Program Take?
Each KnowR!sk micro-learning module includes two 15-minute lessons and a final assessment, for a total of approximately 45 minutes per micro-learning module. There are seven micro-learning modules available in the program.
Learners have 60 days to complete each micro-learning module at their own pace, making it ideal for busy professionals seeking flexible, on-demand training.
Is There A Certificate of Achievement?
Upon successful completion of each micro-learning module, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion, available for download and printing, along with a digital badge that can be shared on professional platforms.
Those who complete all micro-learning modules and required assessments will earn an additional Program Certificate of Completion and corresponding digital badge. All certificates are valid for 3 years from the date of completion listed on the certificate.
How/Where Is The Training Program Offered?
KnowR!sk is a self-guided online training program available 24/7. The training program is run through Thinking Cap learning management software.

Program Overview
KnowR!sk 2025 is designed to help Underground Infrastructure Owners (UIOs), Excavators, and Locate Service Providers recognize and understand risky behaviours that could harm workers, communities, the industry, and infrastructure.
This is a micro-learning program, available only online.
Upon successful completion of all micro-learning, students will be able to:
- Recognize various risky behaviours.
- Elaborate on how their behaviours can impact other stakeholders and communities.
- Generalize the consequences of risky behaviours.
- Devise solutions to decrease the risks.

After completing these micro-learning courses, learners are encouraged to complete the Final Assessment and Survey.
Online Duration
The estimated learning time for each lesson is 15 minutes, and each micro-learning course is around 45 minutes.
Learners have 60 days to complete each micro-learning course once started.
During the 60 days, learners can go through every module at their own pace.
If the learner hasn’t completed the micro-learning within 60 days, the learner will need to complete all the lessons again.
Pass Mark
A mark of 80% on the final exam is required to obtain the certificate of completion.
Learners may take the exam up to 3 times to achieve a passing mark.
Certification of Completion
Upon successful completion of each micro-learning module, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion, available for download and printing, along with a digital badge that can be shared on professional platforms.

What topics does the program cover?
KnowR!sk includes seven interactive micro-learning modules, each containing two short, focused lessons and a final assessment (approximately 15 minutes each). Designed for both Underground Infrastructure Owners (UIOs) and contractors, the program empowers learners to build practical, real-world knowledge in key areas of infrastructure safety and compliance.
Participants can select topics covering:
- Excavation responsibilities and the critical role of Ontario One Call.
- How to analyze past incidents and apply current legislation to daily work.
- The impact of untimely or unclear locate requests on all stakeholders.
- Validating maps to prevent mistakes caused by inaccurate or outdated information.
- How to properly fill out Notification Instruction Forms
- Understanding the risks of improper locate responses and how to evaluate locate documentation.
- How to keep 360 Feedback accurate and current to reduce risk for all parties.
Each topic includes scenario-based activities, knowledge checks, and quizzes to support retention and engagement. Lessons reflect the latest industry regulations, real-world challenges, and stakeholder input to ensure content stays current, compliant, and relevant.
