The online GroundWork Pro: Dedicated Locator certificate is designed for people who are using or considering using Dedicated locator (DL) for their next large-scale project. Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

• Determine if Dedicated Locator is the right choice for your next project.
• Express confidence about the DL process.
• Determine the role you will play in a future DL project.

This program is online only.

Program Topics

1. Module 1: Introduction
   • Benefits of the Dedicated Locator Model
   • Stakeholder roles
   • Best uses for Dedicated Locator
   • DL submissions process.


2. Module 2: Working with Locate Statuses
   • Possible statuses in the Ontario One Call Portal
   • Which parties are responsible for responding to Locate Request
   • Assessing if excavation can begin


3. Module 3: Best Practices
   • Communication channels and how they can breakdown
   • Improving communication channels
   • Tips to avoid common communication breakdowns

Online Course Duration

The estimated learning time for the program is 30 minutes.

Learners have 60 days to complete all modules and the final exam.

During this period, learners can go through every module at their own pace. However, if the program is not completed within 60 days, all modules must be restarted and completed again.

Pass Mark

To obtain the certificate of completion, learners must score 80% on the final exam. They have unlimited retry attempts and review capabilities to achieve a passing mark.

Certification of Completion

Upon successful completion of this online course, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion, available for download and printing, as well as a digital badge that can be shared on professional platforms.

The certificate and badge are valid for 3 years from the date of course.
